NTEU is working to improve the TSA workplace every day by representing TSA Officers nationwide, ensuring that their voice is heard at the agency, in Congress, in the courts and in the media.

NTEU members celebrate the chartering of Chapter 324 at Portland International Jetport and Bangor International Airport Airport.

Thanks to our representational success, NTEU has seen strong and rapid growth at TSA with a wide network of chapters at airports from Miami to California. NTEU continues to organize at dozens of other airports across the country.

All NTEU TSA chapters operate with local staff attorneys and labor relations experts to represent and aid officers with critical workplace issues such as promotions, disciplinary actions, leave issues, disability accommodations and more.

Just a few examples of NTEU’s successful representation efforts include:

  • Standing up for the rights of more than 60 full-time TSA baggage screeners at Miami International Airport when management threatened to unilaterally strip their baggage certifications and force them to transfer into part-time baggage or checkpoint positions. NTEU responded with an airport-wide grievance and, within days, TSA management reversed course, reinstated all certifications and returning all transferred officers to their previous positions;
  • Saving the job of a Chapter 319 (TSA Port Columbus) member who was threatened with termination for allegedly leaving his checkpoint while on duty. In an appeal before the Disciplinary Review Board (DRB), NTEU attorneys successfully proved that the officer did not willfully abandon his post.
  • Forcefully objecting to senior TSA officials and local TSA management at Washington Dulles International Airport, Philadelphia International Airport, Baltimore/Washington International Airport, Washington National Airport and Newport News Williamsburg International Airport about unfair emergency leave policies after consecutive winter blizzards dumped more than 30 inches of snow throughout the mid-Atlantic region, closing airports and making roads impassable.
