Why Join NTEU?

Because NTEU is the Best Choice for TSA Employees.

NTEU Makes a Real Difference

NTEU attorneys have personally represented TSOs in all these cases.

A long-time TSO’s proposed removal for numerous AWOL charges was reduced to a 7-day suspension and ultimately rescinded altogether with the employee receiving back pay because, as NTEU pointed out, the employee had a good work record and TSA lost much of the employee’s leave requests and supporting documentation.

A 5-year TSO’s removal for AWOL was rescinded after NTEU presented convincing evidence of the employee’s good record, the employee’s unusual personal difficulties surrounding the absences, and the fact that the absences qualified for leave under the Family Medical Leave Act.

A 4-year TSO’s removal for allegedly lying on her employment application was rescinded when NTEU demonstrated that her application statements were truthful.

Two TSOs working as baggage screeners were improperly fired. NTEU stayed on the case and both employees were returned to work and each received a full year of back pay for time missed.

And there are many more examples!

NTEU is . . .

Checkthe union that secured improvements to PASS, revisions to the certification process and the temporary elimination of SOP tests—and successfully reversed PASS-related proposed removals.

Do You Have a Right to Choose Union Representation?
TSOs are free to join any union or multiple unions, but management is not required to negotiate with any organization. After TSOs are granted collective bargaining rights, the legal conditions will be in place for TSOs to vote for a union. When TSOs get the right to organize and bargain collectively with TSA, you get the right to choose your union representative through a secret ballot election. Regardless of what you have been told by one union, you will have the absolute right to choose. Read more about your rights.

TSA Employees Do Not Yet Have Collective Bargaining Rights. What Can NTEU Do for Me Today?
Here’s how we are representing you today:

By giving TSA employees a strong, unified voice with TSA management, in the media,
on Capitol Hill and in the courts.

By working to obtain full collective bargaining rights for TSA employees through
lobbying, issue organizing and collective action.

By forming NTEU chapters at airports and providing those members with NTEU's professional representation.

How Much Does Membership Cost?
NTEU’s dues are a very small fraction of your pay. The first step is to determine if NTEU has charted a chapter at your airport. If so, you can join NTEU and enjoy the benefits of membership, including our top-notch representation and money-saving discounts. Membership dues paid to NTEU are calculated as a percentage of pay.

Total dues per pay period:

Band D— $12.93
Band E— $13.10
Band F/G — $13.98
Part-time — $7.86

If we have not yet chartered a chapter at your airport, please sign TSA Form 1158, available below, to demonstrate your interest in forming a local NTEU chapter and getting NTEU representation. No dues will be deducted from your pay until a significant number of employees sign on and NTEU can form a local chapter with professional staff and trained stewards to represent you. Members will be entitled to workplace representation in accordance with TSA regulations and all other rights of NTEU membership and will adopt bylaws and elect officers.
